The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) has been following the COVID-19 pandemic closely. The LTVCA will abide by local, provincial and national health organizations recommendations in addressing this pandemic.

Until further notice, the LTVCA will implement the following practices and procedures to protect the health and safety of our staff, visitors and guests:

• – Effective immediately, the Longwoods Road Conservation Area Resource Centre/Museum will be closed to the public.  The Longwoods Road Conservation Area grounds, nature trails and the outdoor Ska-Nah-Doht Village remain open daily 9 a.m. to sunset. Conservation Authority staff will be reporting to work during this time and members of the public are asked to communicate with Resource Centre employees by telephone or email;
• – At present, the LTVCA Administration Office at 100 Thames St. Chatham will remain open to the public; with departments conducting services as best as they can under the circumstances.
• – LTVCA staff will be encouraged to participate in meetings through alternative means including teleconference and webinar;
• – Hand sanitizers will be available and more frequent sanitization will be conducted throughout the Administration Office and other sites owned and operated by the LTVCA.

 

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause however, the health and safety of our staff and communities is of paramount importance.  We will continue to update our watershed communities as necessary on our operations.

Lastly, the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority wants to ensure our communities and member municipalities that flood forecasting and warning operations will not be compromised during this time. As we enter the spring freshet, LTVCA staff will continue to monitor watershed conditions, issue bulletins as required and operate Flood Control Structures.
