Dive into River and Creek Safety at Longwoods Road Conservation Area
Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority offers River and Creek Safety Program to Families
Strathroy-Caradoc – To help keep our water-loving community safe, the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority will offer a public version of their River and Creek Safety Program on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. This family-friendly afternoon is designed to provide young community members with the skills and knowledge they need to help them make wise decisions about their safety around rivers, creeks, and lakes.
Experience nature while learning important safety skills. After a short presentation participants will take advantage of the beautiful landscape at Longwoods Road Conservation Area while having fun and learning together! The interactive afternoon will include practical tips, a cold-water experience, a chance for our young friends to try on a Personal Flotation Device, and a trail walk to learn about potential dangers like ice, slippery banks, swift and cold waters. Participants will also learn tips to help them make wise decisions for personal safety around water.
Meet at the Longwoods Road Conservation Area Resource Centre / Ska-Nah-Doht Museum at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023. Parking is $5 by coin or credit card at the auto-attendant at the front entrance of the conservation area.
Over the past 20 years the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority, with support with the support of local philanthropic organizations and businesses, has offered a River and Creek Safety Program (RCSP) to select watershed schools. The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority would like to thank the Mount Brydges Optimist Club, the Rodney Lions Club, the Optimist Club of West Lorne, and Salus Mutual for their support of the 2023 River and Creek Safety Program.
