Eastern Bluebirds live in open areas and meadows that are surrounded by trees. These small thrushes thrived in 1800s- as farmland was created, so were new habitat and nesting sites. In recent years Eastern Bluebirds have faced a loss of habitat and nesting area as cities expand and farmland decreases. They also have to compete with birds that have been introduced to the area like Starlings and House Sparrows.
