Dive into River and Creek Safety at Longwoods Road Conservation Area!
To help keep our water-loving community safe, we are happy to offer a public version of our River and Creek Safety Program on Sunday, April 2, 2023. This family-friendly afternoon is designed to provide our young community members with the skills and knowledge you need to help them make wise decisions about their safety around rivers, creeks, and lakes.
Experience nature while learning important safety skills. After a short presentation we’ll take advantage of the beautiful landscape at Longwoods Road Conservation Area while having fun and learning together!
The interactive afternoon will include practical tips, a cold-water experience, a chance for our young friends to try on a Personal Flotation Device, and a trail walk where we learn about potential dangers like ice, slippery banks, swift and cold waters, and make wise decisions for personal safety.
Meet at the Longwoods Road Conservation Area Resource Centre / Ska-Nah-Doht Museum at 1:30 p.m. Parking is $5 at the auto-attendant at the front entrance of the conservation area, by coin or credit card.
