Media Release – For Immediate Release – November 7th, 2022
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) is working with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to continue the operations of the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village, located within C.M. Wilson Conservation Area at 21799 Fargo Road.
Like many organizations and non-profits, the COVID–19 Pandemic severely limited educational events and programming held at the Safety Village over the past several years. Now we are optimistically moving ahead with all previous donors, supporters and partners of the Safety Village, with a goal to offer an expanded outdoor education curriculum, in addition to the children’s safety programming for 2023.
“This will be complimentary to the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority’s mandate, provide educational opportunities for learners of all ages and be a valuable resource for teachers, children and our community as a whole” says Randall Van Wagner – Manager of Conservation Lands and Services with the LTVCA.
“I’m delighted that the municipality will be partnering with the LTVCA on this project,” said Chatham-Kent’s Chief Administrative Officer Michael Duben. “Providing children with safety programming is extremely important to our community and we look forward to seeing the Safety Village fulfill this valued role once again.”
