There will be a large private event taking place throughout the day on Friday, May 1, 2026. Please be advised that some areas of the conservation area will not be accessible to the public. Ska-Nah-Doht Museum will be closed to the public for the entire day.

On Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3, 2026 join us as The Upper Thames Military Re-enactment Society and the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority present the Battle of Longwoods. Re-enactors come together to recreate the Battle of Longwoods and provide a glimpse into life during the early 19th century. Longwoods Road Conservation Area will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day of the event. Come and experience life as a soldier, camp follower, Indigenous member and merchant. Step into an authentically recreated camp – hear the crack of the musket, the roar of the cannon, the smell of food being prepared over open fire – there is something for the whole family. The weekend will include:- Live action tactical and artillery demonstrations- Live period music throughout each day- Military Medicine Presentation – the Surgeon will demonstrate what types of procedures and medicine was available during this time- Camp Tour – Walk back through time with a guided tour of a historical military encampment.- Mini Militia – Children experience what it was like to become a soldier during the 1800s.
