On Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3, 2026 join us as The Upper Thames Military Re-enactment Society and the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority present the Battle of Longwoods. Re-enactors come together to recreate the Battle of Longwoods and provide a glimpse into life during the early 19th century. Longwoods Road Conservation Area will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day of the event. Come and experience life as a soldier, camp follower, Indigenous member and merchant. Step into an authentically recreated camp โ hear the crack of the musket, the roar of the cannon, the smell of food being prepared over open fire โ there is something for the whole family. The weekend will include:- Live action tactical and artillery demonstrations- Live period music throughout each day- Military Medicine Presentation โ the Surgeon will demonstrate what types of procedures and medicine was available during this time- Camp Tour โ Walk back through time with a guided tour of a historical military encampment.- Mini Militia โ Children experience what it was like to become a soldier during the 1800s.
